AMHERST TIMES

When it comes time to pay taxes, which will be raised this year, please don’t ask yourself why. If more people would attend our town board meetings these questions could be answered. You would understand what the town has spent your money on, like needed equipment in the highway, engineering, and other departments. You would understand what projects were paid for or bonded and how the Amherst IDA actions will cost the taxpayers. There is much to learn at a town board meetings.

The reason your taxes were low the last four years was because our ex-Supervisor would move money around so taxes were kept low. Unfortunately this type of action ends up with taxes needing to be caught up on to what they really should have been.  Weinstein told me this would be his legacy to the people of Amherst. He kept taxes down but now we will pay with higher taxes.

If you want to understand why your taxes have get up and go to the Town Board meetings. The next one is September 17th in Town Hall on Main Street. Meetings start at 7:00 p.m.

We have a Supervisor who cares for people and will take the time to answer your questions. Amherst has the good fortune to have a man such as Brian Kulpa as our Supervisor. He has the courage, integrity and honesty we need. He really is the kind of man Senator John McCain would like as a friend.
