OLEAN, N.Y. — Canisius junior Madeline Beaulieu scored twice to pace Canisius in a 2-2 draw with St. Bonaventure Sunday afternoon in Olean, N.Y.
With the tie, the Golden Griffins move to 2-1-1 on the year, while the Bonnies slipped to 0-2-4 with the result.
Beaulieu put the Blue and Gold on the scoreboard first with a goal in the game’s 15th minute. Her first marker of the season came off an assist from freshman teammate Hope Balling. St. Bonaventure senior Mariah Marrero knotted the game at 1-1 in the 20th minute after she settled a loose ball off a free-kick.
The game would remain knotted at 1-1 until the 80th minute, when Beaulieu struck again and put Canisius up 2-1 with an unassisted goal. St. Bonaventure wasted little time tying the score at 2-2, as the Bonnies scored just 1:19 after Beaulieu’s second score. That marker in the 83rd minute for the home team sent the game into two overtime sessions, where neither team scored score.
Canisius junior goalkeeper Alana Rossi made her fourth start of the season and made one save in the contest. St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Lauren Malcolm was credited with four saves for the Bonnies. The Griffs out shot St. Bonaventure, 10-9, and led the Bonnies, 6-3, in shots on goal.

Game Notes
• With Sunday’s draw, Canisius leads its all-time series with St. Bonaventure 20-14-3.
• Sunday’s tie is the third in series history and the first since Aug. 25, 2015.
• Canisius is now 2-1-2 in its last five meetings against St. Bonaventure, dating back to 2014.
• Sunday’s two-goal performance by Beaulieu is her second career multi-goal game. She also had two goals in a win over Oakland Sept. 1, 2017.
• Beaulieu’s two goals are the third and fourth of her career.

Canisius will travel to play at cross-town rival Buffalo on Thursday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The Griffs will return home next Sunday, Sept. 9, when the team plays host to Cleveland State. That game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN+, will start at 1 p.m.
