NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The Niagara men’s soccer team (0-2-0, 0-0-0 MAAC) travels to Connecticut for two games this coming weekend. The Purple Eagles will face the Yale Bulldogs at Quinnipiac on Friday, Aug. 31 before taking on the Hawks in West Hartford on Monday, Sept. 3.

Niagara Notes

  • These will be the first meetings between Niagara and both Yale and Hartford.
  • Historically, Niagara has a 2-0-0 record against Ivy League teams and a 3-16-1 record against teams in the America East Conference.
  • Both Ivy League victories came against Cornell, with the most recent meeting between schools taking place on Sept. 29, 2013, a game that saw Niagara take a 1-0 decision at home.

 
Across The Pitch: Yale Bulldogs (0-0-0, 0-0-0 Ivy League)

  • Yale’s contest with Niagara will be their first game of the 2018 season.
  • Last season, Yale went 5-9-2 with a 2-3-2 record against Ivy League opponents.
  • During the 2017 season, the Bulldogs played two nationally-ranked teams. They were defeated by No. 3 Stanford, 3-1, and tied No. 16 Dartmouth in double overtime, 2-2.
  • The Bulldogs are 11-23-4 all time against MAAC opponents.

 
Across The Pitch: Hartford Hawks (0-1-1, 0-0-0 EAC)

  • Harford faced UW-Green Bay and Wisconsin earlier this month. The Hawks tied the Phoenix, 1-1, on Aug. 24 and suffered a 2-0 loss against the Badgers on Aug. 27.
  • The 2017 season saw Hartford go 5-10-3 with a conference record of 1-5-1.
  • The Hawks faced Iona last season in a match that ended in a 1-1 tie and are 35-7-9 against MAAC opponents all time.
  • Prior to the game against Niagara, Hartford will host St. Bonaventure University in their home opener Friday evening.
