BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canisius women’s soccer senior Emily Czechowski was named to the Women’s Premier Soccer League Ohio Valley All-Conference team, the league announced Friday.
 
Czechowski appeared in all eight games for the Empire Revs throughout the 2018 season and played alongside fellow Golden Griffins Paige BuscagliaMargretta Dry, and Melanie Linsmair. The Revs finished their season with a record of 1-6-1.
 
The Lancaster, N.Y. native, Czechowski currently serves as the team captain for Canisius and hopes to continue her success on the field this season. During her junior campaign, she started all 18 contest for the Blue and Gold and finished the season tied for the team lead with three assists.
 
The WPSL is in its 22nd season and is the largest women’s soccer league in the world with more than 100 clubs from coast-to-coast.  WPSL rosters feature elite collegiate, post-collegiate, international and standout prep student-athletes.  Many of the United States’ most accomplished women’s players have played in the WPSL, including household names such as Alex Morgan, Abby Wambach, Megan Rapinoe, Julie Foudy and Brandi Chastain.
 
Canisius (1-0-0) opens the home portion of its 2018 schedule against Robert Morris at the Demske Sports Complex on Friday. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The Golden Griffins travel to Ohio to face Youngstown State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
