UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS


BUFFALO, N.Y. — University at Buffalo sophomore Andrea Mitrovic has been named to the Preseason All-MAC East Division Team, while the Bulls were picked to finish in third place in the East Division, the league office announced on Wednesday morning following voting from the conference’s 12 head coaches. 


The preseason honor is the first for Mitrovic, who was named to the All-MAC Freshman team a year ago.  She was second on the team last season with 378 kills and 29 service aces, while adding 306 digs. Mitrovic has 14 double-doubles last year and surpassed the 20-kill mark three times, including a career-high 25 kills against Bowling Green.
She is joined on the East Division Preseason Team by Kallie Seimet (Bowling Green), Tia Jimerson (Ohio), Vera Giacomazzi (Ohio), Lizzie Stephens (Ohio), Katie Kidwell (Bowling Green), and Margaret Payne (Miami). 
As a team, the Bulls were picked to finish third in the East Division as they received 45 points, behind only Ohio (68) and Bowling Green (60).  Right behind UB is Miami (42) and following them is Kent State (22) and Akron (15), respectively.
Buffalo is entering the year coming off a 15-win season and an 8-8 mark in MAC play, their most wins ever since joining the league.  The Bulls also earned the #5 seed in the MAC Tournament, their highest seeding in UB’s MAC Tournament history.
The Bulls will open the regular season this weekend when they host the Blue and White Classic at Alumni Arena.  Buffalo will open the season by hosting Niagara at 10am on Friday morning, in a match that will be broadcasted on ESPN+. UB will continue by playing Seton Hall on Friday night at 6:30 and will complete the weekend by playing North Dakota State on Saturday at 12:30 pm, which will also air on ESPN+.  The UB-Seton Hall match and all neutral matches will stream for free on YouTube.
