EDISON, N.J. — The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has released the 2018-19 men’s basketball league schedule. Each institution will play an unbalanced 18-game league schedule, nine home games and nine away games, starting in January 2019.

The Purple Eagles start MAAC play on the road with contests versus Manhattan (Jan. 5) and Fairfield (Jan. 7). Niagara welcomes the three-time defending MAAC Champion Iona Gaels (Jan. 11) and the 2017-18 MAAC Regular Season Champion Rider Broncs (Jan. 13) to open its conference home slate.

NU is back on the road to face Siena (Jan. 17) and Quinnipiac (Jan. 19). The Purple Eagles will then have a four-game homestand beginning with Saint Peter’s on Jan. 22, followed by Monmouth (Jan. 26), Canisius (Jan. 30), and Quinnipiac (Feb. 3).

The Purple Eagles visit Marist on Feb. 8 and Iona on Feb. 10, before returning home to host Manhattan (Feb. 15) and Fairfield (Feb. 17). Niagara will play its next three games on the road versus Rider (Feb. 22), Saint Peter’s (Feb. 24) and Canisius (Feb. 27). NU concludes its regular season hosting Siena on March 3.

The MAAC season concludes with the 2019 MAAC Basketball Championships, March 7-11, at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. The conference champion earns the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

The Purple Eagles return nine letter winners from last season’s team that went 19-14, including earning a No. 3 seed in the MAAC Tournament with a 12-6 conference record, and received a bid to play in the CIT. Niagara will be led by a senior core of Marvin Prochet (10.3 ppg, 7.9 rpg), Dominic Robb (7.0 ppg, 1.4 bpg), Chris Barton(5.0 ppg), and Greg King (4.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg).
