EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2018 MAAC Women’s Soccer Preseason poll on Monday.
The Purple Eagles were picked eighth with 49 points, ahead of Canisius, Iona and Saint Peter’s. NU returns 20 letterwinners from last season’s team that advanced to the MAAC Tournament Quarterfinals where it lost to the eventual champion, top-seeded Monmouth.
Niagara features a veteran backline consisting of Amelia Gulley, Breanne Guevara, Tuesday Jordan and Hadley Bucken. NU also returns three of the top four point scorers from last season in Kelsey Araujo, Hailey Bicknell and Bayley Sullivan.
The Purple Eagles kick off the season at Bucknell on Sunday, August 19 at Noon.
The 2018 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship takes place from October 28 to November 4, 2018. On Sunday, October 28 the No. 3 and 4 seeds will host the First Round, and No. 1 and 2 will host the Semifinals Thursday, November 1. The Highest Remaining Seed will host the Championship Game Sunday, November 4.
