NIAGARA UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Niagara hockey head coach Jason Lammers announced the addition of 11 players to the team’s roster for the upcoming 2018-19 campaign. The team will be arriving on Monteagle Ridge and hold its first practices later this month.
Ryan Cox, Forward, St. Albert, Alberta
Cox joins the Purple Eagles from the Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL). During the 2017-18 season, the left winger played 65 regular season and postseason games, finishing with a team-high 75 points (42 G, 33 A). 14 of his goals came on the power play, and two proved to be game-winners.
Cox also represented Canada at the World Junior A Challenge in 2016, where he notched two points (1 G, 1 A) in four games, with the goal coming in his team’s final game vs. Czech Republic.
Luke Edgerton, Forward, Wheeling, West Virginia
In an injury-shortened season, Edgerton registered 20 points (4 G, 16 A) in 25 outings for the Jersey Hitmen (USPHL) in 2017-18. The year prior, Edgerton skated for the NAHL’s Amarillo Bulls, where current Niagara forward Eric Cooley and incoming forward Alex Truscott both spent the season. Edgerton finished sixth in scoring with 29 points (9 G, 20 A) despite only playing in 37 games.
Zac Herrmann, Defense, Lancaster, New York
Over the past two seasons, Herrmann played in 86 games for the Odessa Jackalopes (NAHL). In 2017-18, Herrmann played in 60 regular season games and finished the year as the team’s highest-scoring defenseman (9G, 31 A). Out of his 40 points, five goals were with a man-advantage and one came shorthanded.
Jon Hill, Defense, Whitby, Ontario
Hill played the 2017-18 season with the Brockville Braves (CCHL), finishing atop the team’s stat page with 53 points (19 G, 34 A) in 62 games. During the team’s playoff run, Hill finished tied for second with 10 points (2 G, 8 A), once again finishing with the most points of any Braves blueliner.
Stephen Kleysen, Defense, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Kleysen skated for the West Kelowna Warriors (BCHL) in 2017-18, where he finished with 20 points (6 G, 14 A) in 47 games. Following the season, Kleysen was named a Top Defensemen Award winner, Humanitarian Award winner and Best Overall Player honoree for Warriors.
Prior to his stint in West Kelowna, Kleysen tried out for Team Canada West in 2016 and was named the Rookie of the Year for Winnipeg Blues in 2015.
Dylan Mills, Forward, Cottage Grove, Minnesota
Mills comes to Niagara following a 2017-18 season which saw him traded from the Waterloo Black Hawks to the Sioux City Muskateers (USHL) in November. After 42 games, Mills finished fifth on the Muskateers with 22 points (14 G, 8 A). He added two goals in five outings in Waterloo to finish with 24 points on the season. Mills is also the younger brother of Niagara sophomore Zach Mills.
Reed Robinson, Forward, Rockwall, Texas
A three-year player from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights (NAHL) program, Robinson joins Niagara following a 2017-18 season that saw him collect 42 points (22 G, 20 A) in 58 regular season outings. He proceeded to add three points in 10 playoff games for the Knights. Robinson’s first year with the Knights was with the 18U squad, and in two years since joining the NAHL roster, he amassed 74 points (34 G, 40 A) in 114 games played.
Ludwig Stenlund, Forward, Skellefteå, Sweden
As a member of the 2017-18 Madison Capitols (USHL), Stenlund racked up 41 points (17 G, 24 A) in 60 regular season games. Started the season with a goal in each of his first two games, then ended strong with 14 points (8 G, 6 A) in the team’s final 18 games. His 41-point output placed him fourth overall on the team at season’s end.
Alex Truscott, Forward, Draper, Utah
Truscott played in all 60 games for the Amarillo Bulls (NAHL) in 2017-18, where he also served as the team’s captain. He ended the season with 21 points (5 G, 16 A). As a member of the Bulls, Truscott played alongside current Niagara forward Eric Cooley and incoming freshman Luke Edgerton.
Cole Weaver, Goaltender, Champlin, Minnesota
Weaver comes to Monteagle Ridge after a season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL), where current head coach Jason Lammers was the head coach and general manager before taking over at Niagara in 2017-18. His regular season earned him 37 appearances, where he had an .883 save percentage and a 2.99 goals-against average. In five playoff games, Weaver improved both of those numbers to .915 and 2.25, respectively.
Jordan Wishman, Defense, Des Moines, Iowa
Last season, Wishman played with the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL), who ended their season in the semifinals of the Clark Cup Playoffs. Prior to Dubuque, Wishman played for the Lone Star Brahmas (NAHL) in 2016-17, where he was part of a Robertson Cup-winning squad.
