A 30 year old Dunkirk man was charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree on July 29, 2018 following a call to police regarding property damage.

According to New York State Troopers, officers responded to a residence in Kennedy for a report of criminal mischief. The caller advised that he observed a subject punch the door to his residence, shattering the glass. The subject was then observed by the caller breaking into and entering his neighbor’s pole barn. Upon arrival, the Troopers placed the subject, identified as Steven Rice, under arrest. Investigation revealed that once inside the barn, Rice threw multiple items around, causing damage. Rice was transported to UPMC Hospital in Jamestown to be treated for the injuries to his hand sustained from striking the initial caller’s door.

Once released from the hospital, Rice was processed at SP Jamestown, arraigned in the town of Ellicott Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.
