BUFFALO — A 16-year-old Cheektowaga male was charged with numerous weapons-related crimes following an incident earlier this month in which two NYS Department of Transportation workers were shot with paintballs.
New York State Police, on Saturday charged Jamar P. Bailey with assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree reckless endangerment, and prohibited use of weapons.
According to the NYSP report, at approximately 8 a.m. on July 20, two DOT employees were actively working on a bridge base on Olympic Avenue in the city of Buffalo when an individual shot at them with a paintball gun from a 2006 Honda Accord. Both victims were struck by paintballs and treated for minor injuries. An investigation by the Buffalo Police Department and the New York State Police identified Bailey as the subject responsible for the shooting.
Bailey was arrested and processed at SP Clarence, arraigned at the city of Buffalo Court, and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $100 cash bail. Bailey is scheduled to appear in the city of Buffalo Court on Thursday.
