A 38 year old Sherman woman was charged with two counts of Custodial Interference 2nd Degree on July 16, 2018 following an investigation into a custodial complaint.

According to New York State Troopers, a complaint was received from an investigator in Texas who reported that Avita Persaud took her two children to Florida and ultimately to New York approximately 21 days prior, in violation of a custody agreement between her and the children’s father. Persaud was located at a residence in Sherman and placed under arrest.

Persaud was then processed at SP Jamestown, arraigned in the town of Sherman Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.  The two children were left in the care of a family member.
