CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced Wednesday that both the Canisius men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs have been honored as part of the organization’s Scholar All-America Teams.

The Canisius men’s team posted a combined grade point average of 3.35 in the spring semester, which ranked second among the six MAAC schools honored. The women’s team posted a grade point average of 3.46 last semester, which ranked fourth among the nine MAAC women’s programs on the list.

In all, the CSCAA recognized a record 710 teams representing 476 institutions for their work in the classroom during the 2018 spring semester. The CSCAA Spring Scholar All-America Teams are made up of college and university swimming and diving programs that achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the spring semester.

A total of 15 MAAC swimming and diving programs were honored by the CSCAA for their efforts in the classroom during the 2018 spring semester. Canisius is one of six schools in the MAAC to have both its men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs honored by the CSCAA.

The Canisius men’s swimming and diving team, which earned an NCAA Public Recognition Award last month, placed fourth at the 2018 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships, the program’s sixth-straight finish among the top-five MAAC male swimming and diving programs. The women’s team also finished fourth at the 2018 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships, which were held in the Flickinger Center pool in downtown Buffalo.
