UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS


BUFFALO, N.Y. — The University at Buffalo track and field team will have three athletes competing at the USATF Junior Championships beginning on Friday at the University of Indiana. Christopher NowakThomas Flanneryand Oscar Vazquez will all be competing in hopes of being selected for the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships.  
Nowak will compete on Sunday in the men’s 1,500m. He ran his qualifying time of 3:54.85 at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Nowak placed seventh in a very tactical and competitive 1,500m final at the MAC Championships.
Flannery will compete in the men’s 5,000m on Friday. The freshman from Orchard Park qualified for the event with an 8:29.13 in the 3,000m at the UB Track & Field Invite on April 28. He placed 12th in the 5,000m at the MAC Championships.
Vazquez will compete on Saturday in the 10,000m. He qualified for the race by running a 31.40.16 at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
