BrashEDISON, N.J. — Niagara baseball pitcher Matthew Brash has captured this season’s final MAAC Pitcher of the Week award, announced on Monday. 

Brash (3-1) had a phenomenal day on the mound as the Purple Eagles defeated Manhattan 3-1 on Saturday, May 19 to clinch a spot in the MAAC Championships for the first time since 2006.

Brash made quick work of the Jaspers, pitching 8.2 innings and scattering only four hits and allowing no earned runs. He fanned eight batters, tying his career-high, and threw 133 total pitches.

This season, Brash had made seven appearances and started in five games. He has allowed just 25 hits in 28.0 innings pitched and has struck out 31 batters.

The No. 6 Purple Eagles will face No. 3 Canisius in the first round of the MAAC Tournament on Wednesday, May 23 at 12:00 p.m. in Staten Island, N.Y.
