UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — University at Buffalo men’s basketball senior Wes Clark has been invited to attend the Professional Basketball Combine presented by HFactor. This is a secondary draft combine designed to give players an opportunity to showcase their talents in hopes of being selected to play professional basketball. Each player who attends has the opportunity to participate in private workouts and scrimmages, do combine testing, and interview for NBA GMs, NBA scouts, G-League personnel and overseas opportunities in what could be a life changing experience.
Clark, who won the Riley Wallace Award as the nation’s top transfer, played in the final 26 games of the season after becoming eligible in late December. He was named the MAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring 26 points in the MAC Championship game against Toledo. Clark averaged 25.5 points per game in Buffalo’s two NCAA Tournament Games as he had 25 points and seven assists against Arizona and added 26 more points in his final game against Kentucky. Clark ended his career with 1,015 points split between his time at Missouri and Buffalo.
As part of the event, the Professional Basketball Combine has partnered with Pledge It to launch the inaugural Professional Basketball Combine: Rising to the Challenge fundraising campaign to benefit PeacePlayers. Fans and supporters can visit Clark’s fundraising page and contribute at www.pledgeit.org/wes-clark. Every player who participates in this year’s combine will have a custom fundraising page created for them by Pledge It, whose unique performance-based capability will allow them to engage fans, supporters, friends, family, etc. in pledging for every inch of their vertical leap at the combine.
PBC has selected PeacePlayers as the official charity partner and beneficiary of Rising to the Challenge. All of the proceeds from the campaign will benefit PeacePlayers mission to use the power of sport to unite, educate and empower young people to create a more peaceful world. Specifically, campaign efforts will go towards PeacePlayers work in cities across the US.
In 2017, after more than a decade of award-winning work internationally, PeacePlayers launched new, year-round programs in the US with a focus on changing perceptions, building youth leaders and contributing to the development of safe and thriving communities. PeacePlayers looks to expand opportunities and support for youth and their communities, and is currently operating year-round programs in Baltimore, Brooklyn, and Detroit, with programming in Chicago and Los Angeles launching over the summer of 2018. Each of these communities faces unique challenges, and PeacePlayers works with local partners including law enforcement to break down barriers, empower young people, and create more space for understanding.
