BUFFALO HEALTHY LIVING

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Gather your friends and family for “1-Way-2-Help-Hospice” and show your support at Hospice Buffalo’s 22nd Annual Memorial Walk! Sunday, May 20th will be the perfect day to walk Buffalo’s scenic waterfront and historic downtown.

“Hospice Buffalo holds a special place in my heart…they do the work of angels. In 2012 they cared for my dad right in his home, keeping him comfortable enough to enjoy the time he had left with us. Within 24 hours of our phone call to Hospice they delivered a hospital bed to my parent’s home! As he was approaching his final stage, my mom knew she couldn’t bear the thought of my dad dying at home, so they transferred him to the Hospice Mitchell Campus. It was all about love – not fear – everyone deserves to be loved and Hospice provided that. I admire Hospice workers and volunteers for their ability to sit with families during the most difficult of times – it takes a special kind of person and I can’t thank them enough for what they have done for my family. Raising money for Hospice Buffalo is my way of paying it forward to not only help the organization, but our community. We’re blessed to have such an incredible resource in our community.”

The 5K or 1-mile “fun walk” starts at 11 a.m. Canalside; registration starts at 9 a.m. Kids 12 and under are free. A shorter, one-mile fun Walk has been mapped out for people with wheelchairs and baby strollers. Afterwards, Wegmans invites walkers to a picnic with food, games, prizes, face painting, a massive slide, and prizes! Register online at HospiceMemorialWalk.com or at the event on May 20th at 9 a.m.

Proceeds from the Hospice Memorial Walk benefit Hospice Buffalo & Palliative Care Buffaloprograms, including community grief support at the Wilson Support Center.
