Gabriel ‘Hungarian Baron’ Galambos passed away May 8, 2018 in the VA Hospital of Buffalo.  Born March 24, 1922 in Tonawanda he was the son of Alexander and Mary (Domanyi) Galambos.  Gabriel served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 during WW II being awarded the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.  He worked for Western Electric in Kenmore for 30 years where he was an instrument technician.  Gabriel was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, LOTSA Niagara, ARRL, and the Niagara River Anglers Association.  He enjoyed fishing, ham radios, woodworking, and boating.
Gabriel is survived by his children Barton Galambos, Susan (Peter) Hart, and Nancy (Roger Dixon) Galambos; longtime love Lydia Masters; five grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.  He was predeceased by his siblings Julius, Alex Galambos, and Irma Kocsis.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, May 11th from 5-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where services will be held Saturday, May 12th at 10:30 AM.  Interment will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery.  Memorial donations to the Niagara County SPCA would be appreciated by the family.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
