ON DECK
Canisius will close out the 2018 regular season with a pair of MAAC
doubleheaders at home, starting Saturday, May 5, when the Golden
Griffins play host to Iona. That twinbill will start at noon. Saturday
is also Senior Day for Canisius, and the program will honor its lone
senior, pitcher Erika Mackie.

On Sunday, the Canisius softball program will host its first “Alumni
Appreciation Day” at the Demske Sports Complex when the team plays host
to defending MAAC champion Fairfield. That action will also start at
noon.

NEWS AND NOTES
• The Golden Griffins are 11-32 on the year after splitting a pair of games May 1 with Siena.
• Canisius is one of four teams entering the final weekend of MAAC play with a 7-9 record in conference action.
• Freshman Kara Paradowski leads the MAAC with 23 stolen bases this season with fellow freshman Erin Hufford ranking second on the team and in the league with 14 swipes.
• Sophomores Morgan Altman and Brittany Sockwell  are tied for the team lead with four home runs.
• Senior pitcher Erika Mackie is among the league leaders in appearances (27) and innings pitched (133.2).
• Prior to the start of Saturday’s games, Canisius will take the time to
honor Mackie, who starts the weekend with 121 career appearances in the
circle.

 SCOUTING IONA
• Iona is 17-23 overall and 9-7 in MAAC games this season.
• The Gaels are led by Jasmine Temple, who is hitting a team-high .276 this season.
• As a team, Iona is hitting .211, however, the squad has been outscored 170-122 by its opponents.
• Alana Evans leads the Iona pitching staff with 116 strikeouts and a 2.23 ERA.

SCOUTING FAIRFIELD
• The Stags are 21-24 and 11-5 in league action this season after sweeping Quinnipiac on April 28.
• As a team, Fairfield is hitting .256, while being outscored by a 223-173 count on the season.
• Destinee Pallotto has a team-high 13 wins in 27 appearances in the circle in 132 innings of work entering the weekend.

SERIES HISTORY VS. IONA
• Saturday’s games against Iona will be the 58th and 59th all-time meetings between the two schools.
• Canisius leads the all-time series by a 39-18 margin.

SERIES HISTORY VS. FAIRFIELD
• Sunday’s twinbill will be the 73rd and 74th all-time meetings between Canisius and Fairfield on the softball diamond.
• The Griffs lead the all-time series, 39-33.
