EDISON, N.J. — Niagara baseball first baseman Peter Battaglia has been named the MAAC Baseball Player of the Week, announced on Tuesday.

Battaglia had a stellar week, helping the Purple Eagles to a 3-2 record, including a three-game sweep of conference opponent Saint Peter’s.

Battaglia had four multi-hit games and for games with two or more RBIs. He had a career-high five RBIs against Canisius on April 25.

On the week, Battaglia had 10 hits, six runs scored, six doubles and 16 RBIs. He batted .455 with a .864 slugging percentage and .480 on-base percentage.

Battaglia leads the MAAC in RBIs with 44. He is fourth in the conference in batting average (.355), third in slugging percentage (.609) and fourth in doubles (13).
