ON DECK
Canisius will open a 10-game homestand to close out the 2018 regular-season, starting Saturday, April 28, when MAAC-leading Monmouth travels to Buffalo for a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.

On Sunday, the team hosts its annual “Cancer Awareness Day” at the Demske Sports Complex as they face Rider for two contests. At the conclusion of Sunday’s games, fans can take part in a Home Run Derby for $5 for five swings. All the proceeds from the day’s events go towards pediatric cancer research efforts.
 
NEWS AND NOTES
• The Golden Griffins are 9-28 on the year after dropping a pair of games April 24 at Niagara 3-0 and 4-0, respectively. 
• Freshman Kara Paradowski leads the MAAC with 19 stolen bases this season with fellow freshman Erin Hufford ranking second on the team and fourth in the league with nine swipes.
• Sophomore Morgan Altman holds the team lead with three home runs, including a grand slam in a win over Buffalo on April 18th, the first of her career.
• Senior pitcher Erika Mackie is among the league leaders in appearances (23) and innings pitched (112.2).
 
SCOUTING MONMOUTH
• Monmouth is 21-14 overall and 11-1 in MAAC games this season.
• The Hawks are led by senior Katie Baron, who is hitting a team-high .413 this season.
• As a team, Monmouth is hitting .265, however, the squad has been outscored 155-150 by its opponents. 
• Junior Amanda Riley leads the Monmouth pitching staff with 153 strikeouts and a 2.48 ERA.
 
SCOUTING RIDER
• The Broncs are 14-26 and 5-7 in league action this season after splitting a non-league doubleheader with Drexel April 26.
• As a team, Rider is hitting .281, while being outscored by a 310-306 count on the season. 
• Sophomore Elyse Cuttic has a team-high six wins in 22 appearances in the circle in 108.1 innings of work entering the weekend.

SERIES HISTORY VS. MONMOUTH
• Saturday’s games against Monmouth will be the 10th and 11th all-time meetings between the two schools.
• Monmouth leads the all-time series by a 7-2 margin.

SERIES HISTORY VS. RIDER
• Sunday’s twinbill will be the 47th and 48th all-time meetings between Canisius and Rider on the softball diamond.
• The Griffs lead the all-time series, 32-14.
• Last season, the Griffs swept Rider in Lawrenceville, N.J.

• Canisius will continue MAAC play on May 1 when the Blue and Gold host Siena in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
