UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS

KENT, O.H. — The University at Buffalo softball team (15-24, 6-9 MAC) dropped their third straight Mid-American Conference game on Friday afternoon as the Kent State Golden Flashes handed UB the 10-0 defeat at the Stadium at Dix. The Buffalo lineup was only able to produce two hits in the loss.
After the Bulls couldn’t convert after a Kent State error in the first inning, the home team responded with five quick runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the 5-0 lead. The Flashes were able to record six straight hits off Ally Power to force a pitching change in the first inning as Brieanna Baker came in and got the final two outs of the inning to limit the damage.
Anna Aguon recorded one of the two hits for the Bulls in the third inning but she was stranded on first base after a single into left field. The Flashes then responded in the bottom half of the inning with two more runs to take the dominant 7-0 lead over the visiting Bulls.
Kent State put the game away in the bottom of the fourth inning as they notched three runs to take the 10-0 lead as the game came to an end after five innings with the Flashes winning by the same 10-0 score.
Aguon and Alissa Karjel were the only UB players to record a hit in the loss as each notched a single. Baker came in and pitched 3.2 innings in relief while striking out three batters in the loss for the Bulls.
The Bulls and Flashes will wrap up their three-game series on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm at the Stadium at Dix. Game two will begin approximately 20 minutes after the completion of game one.
