POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — The Niagara women’s lacrosse team fell to the Marist Red Foxes, 18-9, hindering their chances of earning a first-round bye as a top-two seed in the upcoming MAAC postseason tournament.

Game Recap
- The Red Foxes opened the scoring, going up 2-0 just 65 seconds in, but a goal from Rachel MacCheyne 4:27 in put the Purple Eagles on the board and halved Marist’s lead.
- Another two-goal spurt from the Red Foxes was snuffed out by Caroline Crump 8:33 into the first half.
- After an Alexis Morales goal set the score at 5-3, Marist scored 10 of the next 11 goals to close out the first half, with Shea Swartwout’s first of the game interrupting the streak with 10:09 left in the opening half.
- Rachel MacCheyne struck first in the second half to make the score 15-5.
- Swartwout and Morales tallied once each while Crump added a pair of her own to help Niagara close the game on a 4-1 run.

- Crump’s third goal of the game with 6:54 remaining was the 100th of her career, making her the fifth player ever to reach that milestone for Niagara.

- Niagara will close out the regular season with back-to-back home games. The first of the two games will be on Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. against Quinnipiac. The team will be celebrating the accomplishments of its graduates for Senior Day.
