ANNAPOLIS, M.D. — Canisius junior John Dantonio shot a 78, and freshman Matt Genaway carded an 83, as the Canisius golf team closed out its weekend stay at the 38th annual Navy Spring Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

As a team, Canisius posted a team score of 331 on Sunday to finish the 36-hole event with a two-day score of 641. That placed the Blue and Gold 10th out of 13 teams in the field. George Washington University shot a 305 on Sunday to win the team title, besting first-round leader Towson by eight strokes.

Genaway finished the tournament with a two-round score of 155 to tie for 15th overall. Dantonio posted a two-round score of 157 to finish in a tie for 24th in the field.

The Golden Griffins will return to action April 20-22 when the team travels south to take part in the 2018 MAAC Golf Championship in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
