CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Recent wet weather in Western New York has forced a number of changes to the Canisius baseball and softball schedules.

The baseball team’s non-league game against long-time rival Niagara, which was scheduled for Tuesday, April 17, has been moved to Wednesday, May 2, at Niagara. Game time is set for 3 p.m.

The Golden Griffins are coming off a three-game sweep of Iona last weekend, including an 11-0 shutout victory on Sunday. The Griffs are 20-11 overall and 9-3 in MAAC play. The Blue and Gold will host MAAC-leading Quinnipiac April 21-22 for a three-game set at the Demske Sports Complex, with doubleheader action on Saturday, April 21 starting at 2:30 p.m.

Canisius softball head coach Kim Griffin announced Monday that the Griffs’ MAAC doubleheader against Siena will be played Tuesday, May 1, at the Demske Sports Complex. Game one of the twinbill will start at 3 p.m. That series was originally scheduled to be played April 15, but was washed out by wet weather. The previously scheduled non-league games against Robert Morris on May 1 will not be played this season.

Additionally, the Griffs’ non-league doubleheader with cross-town rival Buffalo has been moved to Wednesday, April 18. Both games will be played at the Demske Sports Complex, and not at Buffalo’s Nan Harvey Field, as originally scheduled. Game one of the doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
