DEKALB, I.L. — The University at Buffalo softball team (11-16, 3-2 MAC) couldn’t get their offense on track on Friday afternoon at Northern Illinois as they dropped both ends of a series opening doubleheader to the Huskies. NIU collected the 10-0 win in the opening game before downing UB 9-1 in the second game of the day.
In the first game of the day, the Huskies were able to strike with the first runs of the game in the bottom of the third inning as they collected six singles in the inning and scored five runs to take the 5-0 lead.
The Bulls looked to respond quickly in the top of the fourth inning as Jessica Goldyn and Danielle Lallosnotched singles and Anna Aguon earned a walk to load the bases for Catrell Robertson but she was able to deliver as she flied out to deep left field to end the threat.

ttom of the fifth to end the game short in the fifth inning as they earned the 10-0 victory.

The Buffalo offense was only able to notch two hits while the Huskies committed two errors in the first game of the afternoon.
In game two, the Huskies jumped all over UB starting pitcher Lace Smith as they ripped back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first to take the 3-0 lead. NIU then added three more runs in the bottom of the second to take the commanding 6-0 lead.
Buffalo scored their first run of the afternoon in the top of the fifth inning as Aguon led off the inning with a double down the left field line. Robertson then moved Aguon over to third with a groundout before Ufuoma Ogagan notched a RBI groundout to the pitcher to plate Aguon and make the score 6-1.
After the Huskies notched a run in the bottom of the fifth, they ended the game in the bottom of the sixth as they scored two more runs, giving the home team the 9-1 victory.
The Bulls and Huskies will conclude their three-game series on Saturday afternoon in DeKalb. First pitch on Saturday is set for 2:00 pm EST.
