UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS

BUFFALO — Junior pitcher Ally Power of the University at Buffalo softball team (11-14, 3-0 MAC) was named MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the conference office. Power earns the weekly recognition for the first time in her Buffalo career.
Power had her best weekend as a Bull this past weekend as she went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA as she went 10 innings of scoreless ball. The junior opened the weekend with her first career no-hitter as she notched a total of 10 strikeouts through a pair of five-inning victories for the Bulls.
The Parker, CO native was untouchable on Friday afternoon in the opening game of the weekend against Eastern Michigan as she recorded the first no-hitter of her career and the first for the Bulls since Tori Speckman pitched a no-no in 2014. Power didn’t allow a hit over five innings of work on Friday as the Bulls downed the Eagles 9-1. The junior struck out five batters while the Eagles lone run came after a pair of Buffalo errors.
On Saturday, Power once again shutdown the Eagles lineup as she notched her career-best eighth win of the season as she went 5.0 innings and allowed just five hits while striking out five batters. Power scattered the five hits across the shortened game as the Bulls notched their first three-game series sweep of a MAC team since their opening MAC weekend in 2016.
On the year, Power leads the Bulls in the circle as she owns a career-best 8-7 record to go along with a 3.72 ERA while striking out 70 batters through 81.0 innings of work. Power has pitched 10 complete games while holding opponents to a .256 batting average.
The Bulls return to the diamond this weekend as they head to DeKalb, IL to take on Northern Illinois in a three-game series. The Bulls and Huskies will open up the series on Friday at 4:00 pm before concluding the three-game set with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2:00 pm.
