NIAGARA FALLS—Niagara County’s annual Spring Career Fair—which has helped pair local job seekers with regional employers as the economy continues to expand—will be held Wednesday, Director of Employment and Training Department Donald Jablonski said.
Hiring representatives from more than 60 businesses will be on-hand, hoping to fill positions in a broad cross-section of local industries.
This comes just days after New York state released February jobs figures that suggest that employment statewide reached a new record high, and that February’s job growth was the most robust month in two years. The New York State Department of Labor claims that the private sector added 28,700 jobs last month.
“Our job fairs put potential employers and potential employees in the same room and provide them with an opportunity to interact in ways the traditional job application process just doesn’t,” Jablonski said. “We want to help our county residents take advantage of this economic growth, and we want to help our businesses find the best people as demand in the labor market starts to outpace supply.”
County Legislator Rich Andres, R-North Tonawanda, praised the Department of Employment and Training’s efforts to match up job-seekers and employers.
“The national economy has been expanding well for over a year now, and regulatory and tax policies seem to be boosting consumer confidence, which is paying a dividend in job creation,” Andres said. “New York state is now seeing part of that national growth as well, and here in Niagara County, we’re going to do our best to help our residents benefit from a booming economy.”
The fair runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Four Points, 7001 Buffalo Ave., Jablonski said.
