OWINGS MILLS, MD — Buffalo State never led but stayed within striking distance all afternoon, before host Stevenson was able to net the final two goals of the game to escape with a 14-12 non-conference victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) led Buffalo State with six points on two goals and four assists before leaving with an injury late in the second half.
- Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/B.H.-B.L.) netted four goals.
- Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) added two goals and two assists, while Ally Ruggieri(Brockport/Brockport) scored three times.
- Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) chipped in a goal and an assist.
- Stevenson dominated possession in the first half with a 9-3 edge in draw controls and a 19-6 advantage in shots, but thanks to seven saves by Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach), the Mustangs led just 7-4 at the break.
- Buffalo State made halftime adjustments and used an early four-goal run to even the score at 8-8.
- After falling behind 12-10, the Bengals rallied again and knotted the score at 12-12 on Herne’s second of the game with 4:30 remaining.
- The Mustangs would break the tie a minute later and add an insurance marker with 2:17 left and held on for the win.
- Stevenson finished with a 35-27 advantage in shots and a 15-13 edge in draw controls. It also had a slight 21-17 margin in ground balls.
- Stark finished with 13 saves.
FOR THE FOES
- Carly Bowes netted four goals, and Kiely Bunce scored three times for Stevenson.
- Mack Ferguson made nine stops for the win.
