CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS

Former Canisius forward Jeff Murray has agreed to terms with the ECHL’s Brampton Beast, the team announced Sunday.

The Thunder are the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens and the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket.

Murray is third member of the Canisius Class of 2018 to sign a professional contract with an ECHL team this week, joining former linemate Ryan Schmelzer (Adirondack Thunder) and defenseman Jack Stander (Atlanta Gladiators).

A native of Newmarket, Ontario, Murray appeared in 143 games during his four-year career with the Golden Griffins, compiling 13 goals and 31 assists for 44 points.

As a senior, Murray appeared in 33 games and posted career highs in goals (4), assists (15) and points (19) as he played on Canisius’ top line with Schmelzer and Hobey Baker Top Ten Finalist
Dylan McLaughlin. He was also part of the team’s penalty kill unit that ranked third in Atlantic Hockey (82.1).
