BOCA RATON, F.L. — Sophomore David Hanes carded a one-over par score of 73 to lead the Canisius golf team, as the Golden Griffins took part in the first day of the FAU Spring Championship at Osprey Point Golf Club in Boca Raton, Fla. As a team, the Blue and Gold posted a score of 307, which ranks 19th in the field.
Hanes’ 73 puts him in a tie for 39th in the field after day one. Freshman Matt Genaway shot 77, which places him in a tie for 90th, while junior John Dantonio carded a 78. He is tied for 98th after one round.
UConn leads the team portion of the tournament, as the Huskies posted a team score of 273, which is 15-under par. UConn’s John Hervol shot an eight-under score of 64 to take an 18-hole lead in the individual portion of the tournament.
