NEW YORK – Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman issued the following statement following the New York State Assembly passing his Comprehensive Contraception Coverage Act:

“With Washington attempting to roll back the clock on women’s rights and health care access every way possible, New York must take the lead in guaranteeing vital access to contraception.
No New Yorker should have to worry about losing the birth control access on which they rely to stay healthy and plan for their future.


That’s why I was proud to introduce the Comprehensive Contraception Coverage Act, which would protect and enhance New Yorkers’ access to cost-free birth control, no matter what happens in Washington.


I applaud the Assembly for passing this critical bill today, and thank Assemblymember Cahill for his leadership. Now, it’s vital that the Senate act.”
