Betty Lou Austin, age 72, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Hospice House surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on December 23,1945 in Bristol, VA, a daughter of the late Thomas E. Bostic and Grace Beulah Patrick Bostic. Mrs. Austin has lived in Lockport, NY since she was a young teen. She worked several years for the Niagara County Infirmary, as well as the Dale Association as a home health care aid which she retired from in 2012. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee, the challenge of cross word and jigsaw puzzles, loved cooking, and tending to her house plants and small flower garden. She enjoyed watching old westerns and comedies like “The Carol Burnett Show”. There is also no denying that she was Elvis Presley’s #1 fan. She was very much loved; a second mom to most, and will be deeply missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond James Austin; and brothers, James, Carl, and Douglas Bostic as well as sisters, Anna Pearl Bostic, Peggy Sue Bostic (twin), Dorothy Nunn, Beulah White, and Naomi Ruth Orsak. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lois Hughes of Lockport, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, Jan. 20th from 11 AM – 1 PM with services at 1 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Niagara Hospice would be appreciated.
