UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS
Stephanie Reid and Bryan Lantry were named as UB’s Athletes of the Week.
Senior point guard Stephanie Reid opened up her final MAC opening game with a bang on Saturday afternoon at Akron as she netted her seventh career double-double and nearly notched her first career triple-double. The Australia native finished off the Bulls 89-66 win with 11 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and four steals across 29 minutes of work. The 10-assist effort was her 10th career game with double digit assists. Reid was a pest on the defensive end all game long as she notched four steals while helping UB force 20 Akron turnovers. The senior is averaging a team-high 6.6 assists/game this season and is up to 523 career helpers, ranking second in program history.
Bryan Lantry finished second at Midlands in the 133 lb. weight class. It was the best finish ever by a UB wrestler at the prestigious event. Lantry beat Giovanni Ghione of Penn in the first round and followed with a 5-3 decision over #11 Dresden Simon of Central Michigan. He upset #3 Korbin Myers of Edinboro in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Lantry rallied to upset #2 Scott Delvecchio of Rutgers, 4-3. Lantry got a third-period takedown and rode out Delvecchio for the victory. Lantry lost to top-seed Seth Gross of South Dakota State in the championship match.
