CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS
BUFFALO — Registration is now open for the 20th running of the Canisius College Shoes for the Shelter 5K, presented by Independent Health.
This year’s event will take place at 10 a.m. on April 15. To register for this year’s 5K run/walk, please click on the link to the left. Pre-registration costs are $25.00 for adults, $15.00 for Canisius students, children 14 and under and employees of Independent Health. Canisius College Faculty/Staff may register in advance for $20.00. Pre-registration will close, April 11. Entry fees go up $5.00 for anyone registering after April 11.
Runners are encouraged to donate shoes of any size and type. The footwear can be dropped off in advance at Room 181 in the Koessler Center, or at registration the day of the race. To date, Canisius has collected 38.049 pairs of shoes, and our goal this year is to easily surpass 40,000 pairs.
Last year, Dylan Lowry won the 19th Annual Canisius College Shoes for the Shelter 5K with a time of 15:39. Kim Vona won the women’s event with a time of 18:13.
A Runner’s Mass precedes the race and starts at 8:30 a.m. in the Patrick Lee Center gym. The post-race party starts at approximately 10:20 a.m.
