Martin ‘Marty’ W. Gilbert, Jr. passed away December 18, 2017 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital.

Born September 30, 1933 in Alden, NY he was the son of Martin W. and Lucy (Hasfurter) Gilbert, Sr. Marty graduated from Lockport High School Class of 1952 and worked for New York State Department of Transportation where he was a laborer retiring in 1998 as a foreman. He was a member of the Wendleville Fire Company joining in 1952, a life member of the Fireman’s Benevolent a member of the Buffalo Consistory since 1974, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Niagara Lodge 375, past master of the John Hodge of Perfection, and was a past president of the Pendleton Historical Society. Marty started working on green houses in the 1950’s and was an avid train enthusiast his entire life. He was predeceased by his wife Cynthia (Thomas) Gilbert on October 14, 2003 and his daughter Elizabeth Gilbert on April 4, 2017.

Marty is survived by his son Robert (Angie) Gilbert and daughter Karen (Steve) Frey; and his grandchildren Gabriella, Madelyn, and Robert Joseph ‘RJ’.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday, Dec. 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where services will be held Friday, Dec. 22nd at 11 AM.
