Lorene E. Mayer passed away on Saturday October 7, 2017, in Niagara Hospice House. Born in Stacyville, Iowa on March 7, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Mathias and Olivia Durben Hackenmiller. Lorene worked for many years as a legal secretary for Chester Grove. She was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church, where she was involved with the Altar and Rosary Society and many other church activities. She was also a member of Club 60, Cornell Mother’s Club and enjoyed cards, dancing, jigsaw puzzles, reading and spending time with her family.
Lorene is survived by her husband of 63 years, Darrell Mayer; mother of Bruce (Linda) Mayer, Rhonda (Michael) Kearns, Cheryl (Philip) Carlisle, Renee (Alwyn) Cohall and Sheila (Andrew) LaMont; grandmother of 15 and great grandmother of 6. Lorene was the sister of Imelda Neis and the late Genevieve Lamay, Wilfred, Sylvan, Jerome, Ernest and Melvin Hackenmiller. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday October 9th 4-7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday Oct. 10th at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers, memorial to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 or to Niagara Hospice, would be appreciated by the family.
