The 31st annual Moonlight Run and Wellness Walk will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, through the streets in the Village of Williamsville.

The Moonlight Run is dedicated in memory of Stephen Meyers, a Vietnam veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor, two Purple Hearts and the Vietnam Cross of Galantry.

“The Moonlight Run is one of the most popular 5K races in WNY and is the fourth event in the Fabulous 5K Race Series,” race coordinator Larry Brownell said in a press release. “Truly a community tradition since its inception, the Moonlight Run has utilized the same course through the picturesque streets of the Village of Williamsville.

With the race being held at dusk, participants are urged to use extreme caution while running andshould be dressed appropriately with light, reflective clothing. The 5K is a combination of gradual hills and long flat areas through the course.

In the release, Brownell said the race helps support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training Program in addition to the Williamsville Library and the Village of Williamsville Railroad Depot Restoration.

The first 1,000 participants in the Moonlight Run will receive commemorative
long-sleeved shirts.

Registration for the event costs $27 until Wednesday, Aug. 9. Race-day registration costs $30.
Packet pickup and preregistration will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Glen Park Tavern, 5507 Main St., Williamsville. Immediately following the race, there will be a party at Island Park featuring refreshments and live music by Hit ‘N’ Run.
