Richard L. Podgers Sr. passed away on Sunday August 6, 2017 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Born in Hartland on May 9, 1925, he was the son of the late Own and Ruby Bowen Podgers. Richard owned and operated Dick’s Collision in Lockport, retiring in 1988 after over 40 years in the Auto Industry. He was an Amateur Radio Operator and was a member of the Frontiersman CB Club, and the Lockport Amateur Radio Association, he was also a member of the Lockport Conservation Club. Richard joined the Civil Defense in the 1960’s and was a member for over 25 years, he was also a crossing guard for the City of Lockport. He is predeceased by his wife, Jean (nee Geier) Podgers, who passed away November 3, 2009.
Richard was the father of Pamela (James) Wilkins-Wallick, Richard L. (Candace) Podgers, Jr., and the late David Podgers; grandfather of 10 and several great and great great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his two brothers and two sisters. Richard is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday August 8th, 3-7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where services will be held Wednesday August 9th, at 11 AM. Memorials to the Lockport United Church of Christ, would be appreciated by the family.
