Joan Farrell MacFarlane passed away on Thursday August 3, 2017 in Briody Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls on June 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Roderick and Irene Lecksell Manson. Joan worked as a telephone operator for NY Telephone in Lockport for 20 years, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, boating, cooking and spending time with her family. Joan is predeceased by her husbands, Robert Farrell and Richard MacFarlane.
Joan was the mother of Kathleen (late Douglas) Killion, Sharon (Donald) Rieger, Matthew (Krista) Farrell, Kevin Farrell, Peter (Jennifer) Farrell and the late Michael (Carolanne) Farrell; grandmother of Jeffrey (Maggie) Farrell, Kelli Farrell, Gregory (Jillian) Farrell, Abigail Killion, Alison (Matthew) Conley, Andrea (Scott) Brockman, Sean Farrell, Ethan Farrell, Eric Farrell and Russell Hendricks; great grandmother of eleven. Joan was the sister of Alec (Linda) Manson, Larry (Kathy) Manson, Diane (Sam) Sansone, Donald (Molly) Manson and the late Roderick and Douglas Manson.
There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 5th at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
