AMHERST TIMES

The Buffalo News ran a story on Friday about a Methadone clinic meeting which turned into a political hot spot by Republican Town Clerk Marjory Jaeger.
Miss Jaeger is running for Amherst Town Supervisor. I was amazed that those running her campaign finally allowed her state her opinion on any topic. She hasn’t publicity set forth her platform or what she feels are the real problems in Amherst.
In all reality she plans to win this election by not saying any about our town. Her campaign will be one of silence which she believes will win for her. If she says nothing the citizens of Amherst can’t blame her for any of the problems in Amherst.
In the Buffalo News article Miss Jaeger attacked Jerome D. Shad, Chairman of the Democratic Committee of Amherst, for attending the meeting. She made it clear in the News that the meeting concerning where Catholic Health will set up a clinic for opioid addicted people, was only for elected officials.
Attending the meeting were Councilman Deborah Bruch Bucki from Amherst, a non elected representative from the Erie County Executive’s Office, Ben Swanekamp, Mr. Schad, and representatives from Catholic Health. Miss Jaeger didn’t mention or say one word against the non-elected Republican Ben Swanekamp, who represented Mark Poloncarz.
The article mentioned that Jaeger is running against Williamsville Mayor Brian Kulpa, who has been open to inquires about what he stands for and what he plans to do with the help of the Town Board to fix problems in Amherst. He has said he will work to keep big buildings from invading our neighborhoods.
The one thing we know now is that Miss Jaeger’s campaign will be one of attacks because of her lack of credentials to be a good supervisor. Mr. Schad did nothing wrong. Just as Ben Swanekamp attended as a representative of the County Executive, Schad was representing the Democrats of Amherst at this meeting.
My advice to Miss Jaeger is to send me your platform and what your plans are to help Amherst be a great place to live.
Most of you know that I have not been a fan of Mr. Schad, but in this instance he did nothing wrong. He found out about the meeting and attended to learn more about the issue. If he were not allowed to attend he would have been stopped at the door. Miss Jaeger was not the bouncer.
