“The Shoe Man”

Vincent F. “The Shoe Man” Macaluso of Lockport, NY was born on September 8, 1938 and passed on July 7, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was the son of Samuel J. and Lena (Pusateri) Macaluso

Vince graduated in 1957 from Lockport Senior High School and had many friends that he remained in touch with for many years. He served in the National Guard in Echo Company for six years.

Vince had many passions. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and bowler. He enjoyed playing baseball in his youth and enjoyed playing the trumpet. He also enjoyed going to the casino, playing the ponies and playing poker. But his biggest love of all was being labeled “Lockport’s Shoe Repairman” which he served for 68 years. He did a lot of special requests such as lowering heels, sewing rips, putting in zippers and doing leatherwork. He did some orthopedic as well. He loved being part of the Lockport business community. He was highly respected by several prominent individuals. The shop was a place that brought him great joy. He found comfort in being surrounded by the thing he loved to do and interacting with people. He enjoyed all of his customers and friends that visited him at the shop. He always had a smile on his face. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Vince “The Shoe” Macaluso’s favorite saying was, “If you want to save your sole, walk on your heels.”

Vince was the father of Lisa (Lawrence) Kopacz and the late Timothy Macaluso; Grandfather of Ashley and Christian Kopacz and Sarah (Timmie) Dickinson; Great grandfather of Emma and Camryn. Brother of Salvatore (Eva) Macaluso, Joseph ( late Barbara) Macaluso and the late Russell Macaluso. He is also survived by his daughter in law, Shannon Macaluso, sister in law Lois Macaluso and several nieces and nephews. Vincent was predeceased by his late wife Carol Banks-Macaluso.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 5th from 4 – 8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St, Lockport. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered Thursday at 12:00 PM (noon) in All Saints RC Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Burial will follow in Cold Springs Cemetery, Lockport.
