John VanNatten Gibbons went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 24, 2017 in Niagara Hospice House. John was born April 4, 1952 in Batavia, NY, the son of the late Robert and Mabel (Stone) Gibbons. He graduated from Lockport Senior High School and worked for 30 years at Harrison Radiator and retired under the Delphi Thermal Corportion in 2001. John was an avid big game sportsman, who enjoyed hunting Elk, Caribou, Bear and Deer during many hunting excursions. Other leisure activities that he took pleasure in included golfing, motorcycle riding, boating, 3-D archery, reading and just sitting on the porch listening to the cascading waterfalls; his most enjoyment came when spending time with his family. He was a former member of the YMCA, Newfane Conservation Club, UAW 686 Archery League and Willowbrook Golf Course.
John was a loving and devoted husband to Debra Chiappone Gibbons, devoted father to Myrla (Michael) Gibbons Doxey and cherished Papa to Braxton and Leilani Doxey, whom were the world to him; brother of Alice Brasky, Harold Gibbons and the late Robert Gibbons, Jr., Carl Gibbons, Paul Gibbons, Wanda Gould and Lois Amey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday June 27, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY. Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 10 AM in the Hartland Bible Church, 8110 West Avenue, Gasport, NY 14067. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum. Memorials to Hartland Bible Church or Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
