The longest drought of the season thus far for the Herd has ended.
Jason Leblebijian snapped the Bisons’ five game losing streak on Saturday evening when he blasted a solo homer in the seventh inning to help grab a 3-0 win over Pawtucket at McCoy Stadium.
With no score from either side for much of the afternoon, Leblebijian took the first pitch he saw from the Red Sox’s Jamie Callahan and smacked it out of the park to left field in the seventh. The home run was the third basemen’s eighth of the season and his first since a May 29 matchup at Charlotte when he had two.
Dwight Smith Jr. found himself in scoring position an inning later after he doubled on a line drive to center field. On the next at bat, Mike Ohlman drilled a home run of his own to left field on a 2-2 count to give the Herd a 3-0 advantage.
Making his first start of the season after suffering from a shoulder injury in spring training, Lucas Harrell showed off his experience on the mound. Harrell pitched a complete five innings on the evening and was able to keep Pawtucket scoreless and allow just two hits and no walks in that span. The righty also fanned four batters before retiring for the night.
Mike Bolsinger (2-1) picked up where Harrell left off and delivered a near perfect two innings. He gave up just a single hit in the seventh inning to Pawtucket’s Mike Miller. Leonel Campos (S, 5) closed out the final two frames, allowing just three hits.
The Herd finishes up their road series with the PawSox on Sunday afternoon with first pitch coming in at 1:35 p.m. Righty Luis Santos (2-4, 4.12 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Bisons and Marcus Walden (5-2, 2.08 ERA) will be pitching for Pawtucket.
BISONS NOTES: The shutout win is the fifth of the season for the Herd…Dwight Smith Jr. went 2-3 on the night, he’s still batting at an impressive .311 this year…Bolsinger’s two-inning appearance is his first for the Bisons since April 27 after getting called up to Toronto…Leonel Campos hasn’t given up a run in the last 5.2 innings of relief he’s provided.
