NEW YORK – University at Buffalo center James O’Hagan was named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List, the Rimington Trophy Committee announced on Monday. The award is giving annually to the nation’s top center. This is the second straight year UB’s junior center has been named to the watch list.
O’Hagan is coming off the best season of his career. He started all 12 games of 2016 and was named All-MAC Third Team. O’Hagan has been the anchor of the Bulls’ offensive over the past two season, starting all 24 games.   
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football. Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2.9 million for the cystic fibrosis community. The award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $130 million for the fight against cystic fibrosis.
Dave Rimington, the award’s namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy’s only double winner as the nation’s finest college interior lineman.
