UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS


BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo track and field program qualified for NCAA East Preliminaries in 12 individual events and one relay event. The competition is set to begin on Thursday, May 25 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.

Fresh off their Mid-American Conference titles Tyler Scheving (800m), Devon Patterson (shot put), Ryan Billian (110 Hurdles), and the men’s 4X400 relay team of Gyasi Morris, Joshua Gali, Brian Cummiskey, and Mitchell Moore will head to Lexington, KY to try and secure a trip to the NCAA Championships in Oregon. Scheving will enter the competition seeded 19th in the 800m with a top finishing time of 1:48.37. Craig Kaiser also qualified for the 800m with a time of 1:46.56 to be seeded 39th. Patterson enters the competition seeded 21st with a top throw of 18.41m. Billian’s top time of 14.10 in the 110 Hurdles seeded him 35th. The men’s 4X400 relay team will enter the competition seeded 25th with a top time of 3:09.52.

Also competing for the men’s side are Brian Crimmins and Barrett Kemp. Crimmins broke the school record in the 1500m twice this season, and is seeded 27th with a top time of 3:44.94. Kemp is seeded 37th in the 10,000m with a top time of 29:48.24. Brian Cummiskey, Mitchell Moore, and Joshua Gali each qualified for additional events including the 4X400. Cummiskey is seeded 40th in the 100m with a time of 10.38. Moore is seeded 48th in the 400m with a time of 47.17. Gali qualified for two individual events: 200m and 400m. He is seeded 42nd in the 200m with a time of 21.01 and 46th in the 400m with a time of 47.15.

Three women earned a chance to compete at the NCAA East Preliminaries. After earning silver medals at the Mid-American Conference, Selina Von Jackowski and Miranda Daucher qualified for the 100 hurdles and discus throw, respectively. Von Jackowski is seeded 40th after breaking the school record with a time of 13.52. Daucher is seeded 24th with a top throw of 51.22m. Mikayla Pearce is seeded 48th in the women’s long jump with a top distance of 6.08m.

Crimmins will be the first to compete for the Bulls, as the men’s 1500m begins at 5:30pm on Thursday. Also competing Thursday are Cummiskey (100m, 6:55pm), Gali (400m, 7:45pm), Scheving and Kaiser (800m, 8:35pm), Kemp (10K, 9:40pm), and Pearce (long jump, 7:15pm).
