STAFF REPORTS

Aaron Slegers took a no-hitter into the 7th inning while Mitch Garver and ByungHo Park both homered in a 3-1 Rochester Red Wings win over the Pawtucket Red Sox Saturday afternoon at McCoy Stadium.
PawSox (15-17) outfielder Steve Selsky broke up the no-no by Slegers (3-3) with one out in the 7th inning. Saturday was the second time this season that Slegers had a no-hitter through at least six innings, joining his Triple-A debut on April 11 at Buffalo (6.0 IP).
Both starting pitchers were locked in early. Pawtucket righty Hector Velazquez (2-1) had allowed just two hits through four frames and Slegers set down the first 12 PawSox of the game. Mitch Garver put the Red Wings (17-14) on the board with a solo home run to open the 5th. The run snapped a 21.1 inning scoreless streak by Velazquez. Slegers walked Allen Craig with one out in the 5th for Pawtucket’s first baserunner.
The game remained 1-0 until Ben Paulsen and Leonardo Reginatto hit back-to-back two-out doubles in the 7th to give the Wings a 2-0 advantage. Selsky’s base hit in the bottom half went to the opposite field on an 0-2 pitch.
Velazquez was charged with two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts over 7.0 innings.
Park homered with two outs in the 8th to make it 3-0. PawSox second baseman Ryan Court, who was activated from the disabled list prior to the game, ended the shutout bid with a homer to open Pawtucket half of the 8th. Dan Butler then hit an automatic double to force a pitching change. D.J. Baxendale got the final two outs of the inning, the last of which was a line drive off the bat of Rusney Castillo that deflected off of his left arm before he fired to first base for the out.
Slegers surrendered one run on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts over 7.1 innings.
Buddy Boshers retired the first two men of the 9th before issuing a four-pitch walk, prompting a pitching change. Alan Busenitz walked the first batter he faced before getting a strikeout to end the game.
Garver finished 3-for-4 with a double and a home run. Paulsen was 2-for-4 and doubled twice.
