UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS


PENNSAUKEN, NJ – The University at Buffalo women’s rowing team finished sixth at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships Sunday morning on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, NJ. Northeastern took home the conference title for the fourth straight year.

“Though we were going for different results, these girls poured their hearts out today,” head coach Kerri Brace said. “What they have been through, and how they have handled it, is a true testament to their character. Their commitment to this team and to another is astounding. I am so lucky to have been on this journey with them.”

Buffalo’s 2nd Varsity 8 boat finished fifth with a time of 7:15.555. The boat was comprised of Caeleigh Heavey, Emma Napper, Isabella Goldberg, Elizabeth shilling, Rylee James, Natalie Howk, Paige Krohn, Madeline Sheffield and Ankita Kelkar.

In the Varsity 8 race, the Bulls finished sixth with a time of 7:18.990. The boat was made up of Ally Mayo, Elisabeth Good, Abbie Albright, Maddy Saporito, Erin O’Connell, Sarah Brill, Jillian Michael, Hayley Nieves and Anna Sviripa.

The boat of Marissa Scaduto, Juliana Gomez, Dania Abul-Enin, Maria Chinnici and Mackenzie Junjulas placed sixth in the Varsity 4 race. The Bulls finished with a time of 8:32.210.

Finally, the Bulls took fifth in the 3rd Varsity 8 race with a time of 7:49.262. The boat consisted of Dana Cowley, Stephanie Busha, Veronica Trzeciak, Sydney Jones, Alexa Hillis, Victoria Nehls, Becca Rozeski, Eden Griger and Dowlette Alam El Din.

At the awards ceremony following the race, Ally Mayo was named to the All-CAA team and Rylee James was named to the CAA All-Academic team.

Finally, I want to thank my incredible staff. Through the most challenging of times, they have been the force that kept us going. I am so proud to work alongside Sam, Ian, Serra and Sasha.”
