LEWISTON — A 49-year-old Lewiston man was charged this afternoon with driving while ability impaired, a Leandra’s Law violation and unlawful possession of marijuana.
According to New York State Police, at 4:13 p.m., Troopers responded to a collision involving a five-year-old female on Upper Mounain Road. The operator, James Printup pulled into a driveway where the five-year-old exited the vehicle from the passenger side. Printup put the vehicle in reverse and backed up, striking the five-year-old with the vehicle’s open door, causing abrasions to the head and leg area. Mercy Flight airlifted the five-year-old to Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
NYSP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) administered field sobriety tests to Printup before he was taken to St. Marys Hospital for a blood sample then transported to SP Niagara for processing.
Printup has been issued appearance tickets for the Town of Lewiston Court for later this month.
