POTSDAM — Buffalo State secured a playoff spot on the final day of the SUNYAC regular season with a sweep over host Potsdam, winning 2-1 and 4-1.

Game #1: Buffalo State – 2, Potsdam – 1

Laura Crooks (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) had three of the Bengals’ eight hits, going 3 for 4, and scored the game’s first run. Nicole Adams (Lockport/Starpoint) was 2 for 3, and Kaelee Lynch (Atwater, CA/Buhach Colony) and Cassandra O’Hern (Augusta, NJ/High Point) drove in one run apiece. Allie Block (N. Tonawanda/Starpoint) tossed a four-hitter for the win with seven strikeouts.
The Bengals and Bears traded runs in the first inning, and Buffalo State took the lead on Lynch’s RBI single in the fourth. Block limited the Bears to just one hit after the second inning.

Game #2: Buffalo State – 4, Potsdam – 1

Block rolled in the circle again in the late game, tossing a five-hitter with six strikeouts. Julia Blujus (Amherst/Sacred Heart) was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, and O’Hern was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. The Bengals made the most of just five hits.  Potsdam led 1-0 after the first inning, but Buffalo State scored three runs on two hits and two Bears’ errors in the third to take the lead. Buffalo State added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI single by O’Hern.
                                                               
Buffalo State will open the SUNYAC Championships at Cortland on Thursday as the No. 4 seed and will face No. 3 Plattsburgh at 1 p.m.
