William F. Taft, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Elderwood at Wheatfield.  Born on July 16, 1930 in Pittston, PA, William was the son of the late William R. and Frances (Pahl) Taft.

Mr. Taft came to Niagara Falls as a teenager and attended local schools. Beginning in 1949, during the Korean War, William proudly served in the United States Army, as a Corporal and Military Police Officer, until his honorable discharge in 1953.  On June 27, 1953, he married the former Theresa Casero in United Presbyterian Church.  For 50 years, Mr. Taft was employed as cement Mason for the Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ International Association.  William loved NASCAR Stock car racing and walking by the river and he took great pride in caring for his yard.

Mr. Taft is survived by five children, William A., Donald, Richard, Randel, and Cindy Taft; grandchildren and great-grandchildren totaling 24; siblings, Robert, Audrey, Sherley and Bonny and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents and wife, William was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Doug Taft.

There will be no prior visitation.  A private graveside committal service was held in Lancaster Rural Cemetery.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara.
